President Rodrigo Duterte revealed that his daughter, Sara Duterte, attempted to resign from her post as Davao City mayor.
"Ayaw na kasi magtakbo 'yan eh. Ayaw na talaga niya. Sabi niya, nababastos lang ako sa pagka-mayor ko, wala naman ako nakukuha," he said.
"Na-pressure siya. Marami nang pumasok. Na-pressure siya kaya tumakbo," Duterte added.
The President then revealed that his daughter submitted her resignation letter.
"June 30 kami nag-oath, lahat ng public officials. Alam mo pagka-July 1, nag-file ng resignation," Duterte said.
"Sabi niya, maghanap ka na ng mayor mo," he added.
According to Duterte, he will not leave Davao City behind so as not to waste his efforts in developing the city.
"Talagang hindi ako papayag na maiwan ko ang Davao. Sayang ang ipinagod ko," he said.
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said she wanted to resign from her post as Davao City mayor, as revealed by her father in a speech Sunday.
The president's eldest daughter, however, said she does not want to dwell on the issue.
"It happened in the past, I don't want to dwell sa nahitabo na (sa nangyari na)," she told ABS-CBN News.
Sara added her father only talked about the first part of her letter.
"If you remember naghimo ko (gumawa ako) letter, he did not divulge the whole letter. He only read the first part of the letter," she said.
"I said, 'Do not run because you do not need it' but at the end part of the letter, there was a promise from my end that I will support him, whatever his decision may be. That's why nidagan ko kay nidagan man siya (tumakbo ako dahil tumakbo sya)," Sara added.
The elder Duterte served as Davao City mayor for more than two decades, while Sara first served as mayor from 2010 to 2013.
Raising a child is not that easy, good thing President Rodrigo Duterte gives full support to his children and acknowledge their strength to serve their fellow men.
