In an official statement that you can read in full here, Formula 1 has confirmed that the 2020 Chinese Grand Prix has been postponed.
The race was scheduled to take place on April 19, but due to the recent coronavirus outbreak a postponement request was submitted by the promoter, Juss Sports Group.
With the World Health Organization declaring the outbreak as a global health emergency, F1 has said it has taken the decision in order to “ensure the health and safety of the traveling staff, championship participants, and fans.”
There has been no confirmation so far as to if or when the race will be rescheduled. “The Chinese Grand Prix has always been a very important part of the F1 calendar and the fans are always incredible,” reads the F1 statement. “We all look forward to racing in China as soon as possible and wish everyone in the country the best during this difficult time.”
Last week, Formula E also announced that it had canceled the Chinese round of its championship.
