Manila Bulletin writer Krizette Laureta Chu has summoned the inner political analyst in her to explain why President Duterte has been the most hated President by the Opposition, Oligarchs and the mainstream media in PH history.
Chu said, after deep reflection, that of all the noise out there, you only really need ONE reason to explain why they hate Duterte and wrote: “HE IS THE FIRST KING THE KINGMAKERS DID NOT PUT IN PLACE, AND WHAT THEY DID NOT OWN, THEY COULD NOT CONTROL. THERE IS NOTHING MORE DANGEROUS THAN A MAN WHO OWES YOU NOTHING. AND HE IS THE ONLY—NEVER HAS THIS HAPPENED BEFORE—POLITICIAN TO BECOME THE MOST POWERFUL MAN IN THE COUNTRY WHO HAS NEVER OWED THE MEDIA ANYTHING.”
Chu did not sound surprise of what the Duterte enemies are doing because it is their nature, “What they couldn’t control, they wanted to replace with someone they could.”
Chu took a swipe at the pet line of the embattled TV network whose noble claim is that they exist to serve or in the service of the Filipino because if indeed they are true to their words, they should regularized all their employees first. “As for the noble claim that they exist merely for the service of the Filipino, they would have taken care of their own employees first. They would have regularized them. And all those money they threw away at their audience? All those “tulong” they have given were just drops in the bucket. Barya-barya.”
Chu unmasked ABS-CBN’s gimmick of playing generous, say awarding P1M to lucky studio contestants because they can easily get back the money with the expensive 3-second spot advertisement. “Give away P1 million on the show, charge P200,000 for a 30-second spot advertisement. For the worth of 5 ads, and the Great Unwashed feel indebted.”
Chu said P1M is just peanuts when ABS-CBN in return enjoys monopolistic control of the political and economic landscape of the Philippines. “The cherry on top is that, as a powerful media conglomerate, you control and steer the sentiment of the common man, the 90 percent who watch your shows, and when you control the common man, when you dictate what he watches, and you dictate what he thinks, when you curate the content he consumes, you have absolute power. Think of the power to shape the way people think. Before the democratization of information dissemination, thanks to social media, they had the monopoly to choose the prism with which we viewed things. What they put out there, we took as gospel truth, we lapped up as reality.”
Chu lamented ABS-CBN’s dominance in every aspect of Philippine society has been going on for decades because we weren’t wiser then. “And this happened for decades. Imagine having such heady power to shape HOW MULTIPLE GENERATIONS THOUGHT, ACTED, FELT. They controlled the narrative. They controlled what we prioritized. They chose which news stories were considered important. They could choose which stories to bury, and which stories to highlight. And we were unthinking, following their cues, because we weren’t the wiser then.”
Chu went on to explain why politicians are afraid of ABS-CBN. “When you control the everyday Juan, then you control the greedy politicians who want to stay in power forever by making sure they kowtow to you and your kingmaker abilities.”
Chu, apparently relieved that she has done her best to explain why Dutertes enemies hate him very much, exclaimed: “So now you know how Duterte upended everything by just being Duterte.”
Chu expressed shocked that the wokes haven’t realized that power of ABS-CBN is more dangerous than any 74-year-old who will soon go back to private life while ABS-CBN is back to business again in two years. “I’m shocked that the wokes haven’t realized why this power is more dangerous than any 74-year-old who is 2 years away from ending his Presidency. In two years, if they’re lucky, they can still operate. They can do whatever the hell they want if they’re lucky to find someone else to install as their puppet in the Office of the President.”
Chu talked about being disappointed of people who know these still defend ABS-CBN simply because they hate Duterte. “Disappointed that those who know this still defend the wrongs and injustices committed, only because they hate Duterte.”
Chu reminded the haters of Duterte what the bottomline of ABS-CBN’s hatred for President Duterte. “DONT FORGET THAT THIS IS THE BOTTOMLINE: They hate Duterte because he is the only king the Kingmakers never put in power. And they will do everything possible to return to their glory days as the real powers that be of this country.”
Chu ended the long FB post with a powerful and stern warning to those resist change, “But the game has changed. Change has come, and in the eternal words of Charles Darwin, those who do not evolve will simply perish. And that, my simpleminded friends, is how things simply work, Duterte or no Duterte.“
