If you want a performance-oriented Jeep, go for the Wrangler JPP 20

Another day, another modified Jeep. You might have read our previous story on the recently introduced Gladiator Mojave, the latest addition to the brand’s long list of beefed-up trucks. That list just keeps getting longer, as the American truck manufacturer has now unveiled the new 2020 Jeep Wrangler JPP 20.

JPP stands for Jeep Performance Parts—fitting, as the look kind of gives away that aftermarket-tuned vibe. This time, though, Jeep looked to its own Mopar brand to bring this limited-edition Wrangler to life.

“The new limited-edition Jeep Wrangler JPP 20 is a ‘check-all-the boxes’ off-road vehicle for enthusiasts,” said Mark Bosanac, head of Mopar, FCA-North America. “We loaded the Jeep brand’s iconic rock crawler with factory-backed and quality-tested authentic Jeep Performance Parts specifically designed and engineered to tackle the toughest conditions.”

Up front, a steel bumper and skid plate have been fitted for improved off-road durability, while out back, the rear bumper has been equipped with D-rings for towing purposes. In addition, the Wrangler JPP 20 gets a Rubicon Winch with 100ft of Warn Spydura synthetic rope.

To make the vehicle even sturdier, the steel tube doors have been built using high-strength aluminum. The rear swing gate has also been reinforced, allowing a larger tire to be mounted.

This Wrangler comes with an American Flag hood graphic, JPP decals, blacked-out fender vents and fuel door, and laser-etched, forged-aluminum JPP badges on the outside. Inside the cabin, you get Katzkin Tuscany leather seats, Mopar all-weather floor mats with drain plugs, and a Mopar Cargo Tray Kit.

As far as tech goes, this Wrangler features a seven-inch instrument panel and a seven-inch infotainment system; available with the latter is the fourth-generation Uconnect system, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Standard safety features include rear park assist and blind-spot monitoring. Meanwhile, engine choices are a 2.0-liter turbopetrol that generates 270hp and 400Nm, a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 capable of 260hp and 599Nm, and a 3.6-liter Pentastar gasoline V6 that produces 285hp and 352Nm. All powertrains are mated to a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission.

Each purchased Jeep Wrangler JPP 20 also comes with an exclusive owner’s kit that includes a JPP two-inch lift kit, JPP five- and seven-inch off-road LED light kits with mounting brackets, and a choice of one of five JPP off-road wheel-and-tire sets. Units of this limited-edition Jeep are set to arrive at US dealerships by the third quarter of 2020.

Jeep calls the Wrangler “one of the most accessorized vehicles in the world,” and says that more than 90% of Wrangler owners get at least one accessory for their vehicles. A testament to that is Mopar’s display at the 2020 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show, where it showcased 14 customized vehicles. It was also in that show where the Wrangler won its 10th straight 4x4/SUV of the Year honors.

What do you think of the new Jeep Wrangler JPP 20? Would you opt for this model if it were available in the Philippines?
