Sen. Ralph Recto warned the grave repercussions to our local banks when ABS-CBN stops operations.
Recto wondered how ABS-CBN will be able to pay their debt to the local banks which stands at around P30B if their operation is halted.
Retired broadcaster Jay Sonza quickly took to Facebook to debunk the scare tactic of Mr. Vilma Santos in a brazen way.
Sonza wrote: “Papaano babayaran ng abs-cbn ang 30Bilyong utang nila kung isasara sila. at saka iyong eleven ano nga iyon …
– sen. ralph recto”
Sonza called out Recto to get his attention rather impolitely, “hoy mister ni ate vi”
Sonza went on to inform Recto that ABS-CBN has been making billions yearly since the 90’s. “since early 90s pa kumikita na ang abs-cbn ng bilyones taon-taon.”
Sonza reckoned that someone like Recto who is neither employed nor owned a business except his salary as a senator is a billionaire. “ikaw nga sir, naging billionaire ka kahit wala kang ibang hanapbuhay o negosyo maliban sa suweldo mo sa senado eh”
Sonza ended the brief FB post quoting Ryan Rems, “rock and roll to the world!!!”
Rems was the Showtime contestant who was groomed by ABS-CBN to rival the AlDub phenomenon.
Netizens have varied reactions to Jay Sonza’s jab at Senator Ralph Recto.
This netizen praised Sonza for bringing down Recto with a simple and yet on point rebuttal. “Galing talaga ni sir Jay laging sapol ang mga tinitira 
, sabi nga naming mga batangueño alah eh nadali mo po bullseye eh 
.”
Another remarked that Recto is the best example why politics in the Philippines is the best business. “Yan ang patunay na politika sa Pilipinas ay ang pinaka magandang negosyo, Senatong at Tongressman. Serbisyo publiko ay dahilan lang ng mga kawatan.”
Another netizen commented he was baffled why our politicians are rich even if they no businesses. “Yes tama ka po Sir Jay Sonza nagtataka din ako bakit biglang bilyonaryo yang magasawa na yan hindi nga naman sila negosyante este negosyo pala nila pagiging polpolitiko.. “
