MG Philippines sold a total of 5,085 units in 2019

If you think vehicles sporting the MG badge are becoming an increasingly common sighting these days, then you’re most definitely correct.

We’ve actually said it before at the Top Gear PH Awards 2019, but we’ll say it again anyway: MG Philippines’ recent resurgence has been quite the breakout performance, and its latest sales report is a testament to that. For 2019, the company has reported a total of 5,085 new units sold—or good for an average of more than 400 units per month. Contributing to this achievement was the ZS, which accounted for more than half of MG’s overall sales for the year. The other models in the brand’s four-car local lineup are the RX5 SUV, the MG 6 fastback, and the MG 5 subcompact sedan.

Throughout 2019, MG also boosted its local presence through its participation in various sporting events, including the UAAP, ONE Championship, and the 2019 Southeast Asian Games. The brand also revived one of its marketing campaigns last year in the MG Live! Free concert series, and launched its home-service offering along with the new My MG mobile app last year.

“We at MG Philippines are thankful to our clients, our executive committee, dealer partners, media friends, our partners from SAIC Motor International, our bank partners, and the numerous agencies who worked with us, for making 2019 such a breakout year for the brand,” says MG Philippines president and CEO Atty. Alberto Arcilla. “We are very grateful for each and every one of you, for the contributions you have made in making MG Philippines what it is today, and for your continued support of this British heritage brand. We have exciting things in store for 2020, and we eagerly enter this new year and decade with renewed anticipation and excitement, bolstered by all the positive indicators we received in the past year.”

As of this writing, MG already has 24 dealerships nationwide, covering Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The company says that seven more dealerships are scheduled to launch in key locations in 2020, so expect more from The Covenant Car Company in the months to come.

What say you? Do you think MG Philippines can attain the same numbers—or do even better—in 2020?
