Toyota PH welcomes a new president

The country’s leading car manufacturer is now under new leadership. In a ceremonial turnover held at the Grand Hyatt Manila in Bonifacio Global City, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) officially welcomed Atsuhiro Okamoto as its new president.

The executive joins TMP on the heels of a 28-year run with the Japanese carmaker. He has held marketing positions with both Toyota and Lexus since 1992, and most notably was the executive vice president of Toyota Motor Asia Pacific.

“As TMP’s new president, I would like to reiterate to all TMP team members, dealers, and suppliers alike, the importance of dedicating our work to contribute to society. We will continuously do so by providing ever better cars and services to enhance the quality of life of Filipinos,” Okamoto said.

His predecessor, Satoru Suzuki, pushed the brand to new heights during his four-year tenure. In particular, he spearheaded Toyota’s investment in the Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy (CARS) program.

It has been four solid years, and the business environment changed significantly in that short span of time. The Philippines is at an opportune time as a fast-growing economy, not just in Asia but globally. I am assured that TMP is capable and ready to seize new opportunities with its new president at the helm, Suzuki said in his farewell speech.

TMP chairman Alfred Ty welcomed the new president with open arms: “Okamoto-san, welcome. I promise you, it is more fun in the Philippines.

Welcome to the Philippines, Okamoto-san!
