NATIONAL University made it two straight wins, spoiling Adamson’s debut in the UAAP Season 82 women’s volleyball tournament, 26-24, 25-14, 25-21, on Sunday at the MOA Arena.
Senior spiker Audrey Paran showed the way for the Bulldogs with 15 points off 10 attacks, three aces and two blocks, while Margot Mutshima sustained her fine play with 13 points.
Mutshima had seven kills, three blocks and as many as aces to NU give its best start since 2018 in Jaja Santiago’s final playing year.
“Masaya kami dahil pangalawang panalo namin for this season. Sobra kaming nainspire kasi unlike last season di ba nakuha namin yung first win namin matagal pa,” said NU coach Norman Miguel.
“Malaking factor ‘to para sa players namin. Malaking morale boost para sa kanila to work harder towards the succeeding games namin.”
Ivy Lacsina had nine points on four kills, three blocks and two aces. Risa Sato added eight markers including four blocks, while libero Jennifer Nierva finished with 11 digs and 10 excellent receptions.
Adamson had a 32-28 edge in spiking but committed 25 errors, while NU dominated the blocking, 13-5, and made 10 service aces against five by the Lady Falcons.
Trisha Genesis led the Lady Falcons with 12 points and 11 digs. Rookie Lorene Toring added 11 markers while Louie Romero had 16 excellent sets.
