Not all heroes or heroines, for this matter, wear capes.
The touching story shared by a netizen named Lane Blackwater perfectly illustrates this.
In a Facebook post titled “Good samaritan in Landmark 
” Lane Blackwater shared the heartwarming scene she witnessed inside Landmark supermarket.
According to Blackwater, while she and her husband were waiting for the line to move in the cashier, she overheard a young lady telling a “Manong” to pick up some more groceries, in addition to the few canned goods and small bottles of alcohol in his basket. Of course, the nice young lady offered to pay for it. “While everyone else was hoarding like hell (yung tipong punong-puno ang mga big carts) here in Landmark, habang naghihintay kami ng asawa ko na mag-move ang line ay I couldn’t help but overhear this very nice young lady sa likuran namin saying to Manong na hindi nya kilala (na ang laman lang ng basket ay few canned goods and few bottles of alcohol na maliliit lang) na, ‘kuha pa po kayo ng tinapay, kape, asukal… ako po ang magbabayad.'”
Blackwater recalled Manong looked hesitant but the nice young lady insisted so Manong obliged. He left and returned with two loafs of bread. The nice lady insisted he get some more and not worry about the payment, assuring Manong she will pay for the additional groceries. The nice young lady whispered to her companion to get stuffs like toothpaste and the likes. “Manong was reluctant pa pero sa matagalang pagpilit sa kanya, napapayag din siya. Umalis siya saglit at kumuha ng dalawang piraso ng bread. So sabi ni girl na, “yan lang po kinuha nyo? Kuha pa po kayo. Dagdagan nyo pa po, ako po ang magbabayad.” Si Manong, nagsmile lang pero pinilit pa rin siya ni girl. So Manong left again to get few more items habang si girl ay binulungan ang kasama nya to get more items like colgate and the likes… di ko na masyadong sinilip ang mga nilalagay nila kasi nahiya na rin naman ako. 
”
Blackwater said that while Manong was gone, the nice young lady and her companion filled Manong’s basket until it was full with items she called “necessity” to survive in a pandemic like scenario. “So habang wala pa si Manong, napupuno na ang basket nya kalalagay nila girl and kasama nya ng mga necessity items during times like this na may pandemic…”
Blackwater remarked that Manong was astonished upon seeing that his basket was already full with grocery items, looking happy and overwhelmed. “Pagdating ni Manong, nagulat na lang siya sa dami ng laman ng basket nya. Makikitang happy and overwhelmed na rin si Manong.”
The ending was, the other customers in the cashier counter decided to give more items to Manong like Spam (paid for by the donor) while someone even offered to pay for the other items Manong originally picked earlier. “In the end, pati yung ibang nasa counter na customer ay nagbigay na rin ng konti-konting items like Spam and etc. (na they paid) kay Manong at may nag-offer pa na sila na magbabayad ng mga items ni Manong.”
Blackwater said that she felt happy that there are still people like the young nice lady who are sincere to help. And it rubs on other people. “Nakakatuwa lang kasi may mga tao pa rin talaga na kagaya ni girl na makikita mo ang sincerity sa pagtulong. Pati tuloy mga tao nahawa na sa kanya.”
Blackwater wished that all people are like the nice young lady she witnessed in Landmark. “Sana all kagaya ni girl.”
