Ford Philippines will launch a new Ford Everest variant on March 18
“Ford Philippines has just announced that it will be introducing the Ford Everest’s Sport variant on March 18, potentially expanding the nameplate’s lineup to four trims—the Everest 2.0 Turbo Titanium 4x2, the 2.0 Bi-Turbo Titanium+ 4x4, the 2.2 TDCi Trend 4x2, and now the Sport.
“No other details have been provided by the American car manufacturer as of this writing, but expect the Everest Sport to be positioned right below the top-of-the-line Titanium+. This is the case for the Thailand market, where the Sport variant is only available as a 4x2 and is powered by the same 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine as mid-level Titanium units. The powerplant is capable of 178hp and 420Nm of torque, and is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.”
The upcoming Suzuki S-Presso carries a very affordable P518,000 price tag
“Now this is what we call affordable. The 2020 Suzuki S-Presso will be priced at just P518,000 has finally revealed the starting price of the upcoming S-Presso, and at just P518,000, the new model is an extremely enticing proposition for individuals making the jump into vehicle ownership.
“Only one variant of the S-Presso will be made available locally: the Suzuki S-Presso GL MT, powered by a 1.0-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine that does a modest 67hp and 90Nm of torque and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Those figures might not blow you away, but keep in mind it’s reportedly capable of averaging 21.7 km/L.
“If you’re interested in owning the S-Presso, you can get a P15,000 discount if you reserve between now and March 18, 2020. Keep in mind this requires a minimum P5,000 down payment, though.”
Mitsubishi PH is now selling the new Strada Athlete for P1.76-M
“This is the 2020 Mitsubishi Strada Athlete—a more rugged and sporty version of the model. The vehicle was first launched in Thailand late last year, and should compete directly with the likes of the Toyota Hilux Conquest locally.
“How much for the burlier look and extra features? At dealerships, the Strada Athlete is listed at P1,760,000. That’s P50,000 more than the top-of-the-line Strada 2.4 GT 4WD AT.”
The soon-to-be-launched Suzuki XL7 will be priced at P1.068-M
“If you’ve been looking forward to the Suzuki XL7’s local arrival, we have some good news for you: The Japanese car manufacturer has already revealed the price of its brand-new subcompact SUV, which is set to take on the likes of the Toyota Rush and the upcoming Mitsubishi Xpander Cross.
“How much? P1,068,000 for the lone variant.
“Suzuki Philippines is also offering a discount for people who reserve an XL7 unit from now until March 18, 2020. With a minimum P5,000 down payment, you also get a P30,000 discount. If you’re already dead set on owning this vehicle, you might want to visit a dealership sooner rather than later.”
The new 2020 Maxus T60 is now available in PH starting at P998,000
“Well, this is a breath of fresh air—a new pickup to consider that isn’t from a Japanese or American car manufacturer. The Isuzu D-Max Boondock now has a 4x4 variant
“The D-Max Boondock, with 265/70 Yokohama Geolandar all-terrain tires, 18-inch black alloy wheels, 247mm of ground clearance, performance shock absorbers, and various aesthetic alterations to go along with the company’s capable 3.0-liter 4JT1 turbodiesel (177hp at 3,600rpm and 380Nm of torque between 1,800-2,800rpm) was an interesting proposition—save for the fact it was only available in 4x2 form.
“Thankfully, the Japanese manufacturer has finally followed up on that initial release with the introduction of the D-Max Boondock’s 4x4 version. It boasts the same niceties and engine as the 4x2 unit and is also available with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Isuzu will phase out greenhouse gas emissions from lineup by 2050
“Isuzu has announced that it will completely clean up its act, eliminating greenhouse gas emissions from both its products and operations by the year 2050.
“While the carmaker stops short of saying it will discontinue diesel offerings, unless by some miracle it can find a way to utilize diesel without affecting the environment, this may mean the end is nigh for the company’s conventionally powered lineup.
“The move comes as part of the Isuzu Group’s new Environmental Vision 2050 initiative, which is basically a company-wide effort to realign its business to minimize impact on the environment and ‘support the creation of a decarbonized society.’”
The 2020 Mitsubishi Xpander Cross may be priced at P1.255-M when it launches in PH this month
“It’s no secret by now that the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross will be launched here in the Philippines.
“But the question remains: what are the numbers? Thankfully for you who are reading this, our sources have provided us with just that. We have with us what seems to be the vehicle’s full specifications, and it looks a lot like the Indonesia-spec units on paper.
“We’ve been told that there will only be one variant available. That said variant packs a 1.5-liter MIVEC DOHC engine that generates 103hp and 141Nm of torque and is mated to a four-speed automatic gearbox. Its suspension setup is comprised of MacPherson struts with coil springs up front and a torsion beam at the rear. In addition, it sits on 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels.
“The new Xpander Cross is equipped with a push-start ignition and a 2DIN seven-inch touch screen infotainment system with a six-speaker setup. Its three-spoke leather steering wheel has tilt and telescopic adjustments and is fitted with buttons for both audio and cruise control. Its other safety features include active stability control, traction control, and hill start assist.
“Now, on to the more important question: how much will it be priced? Well, another source has told us that it will be priced at P1,255,000. That’s just a bit over the top-spec Xpander currently available in MMPC’s lineup.”
BMW has revealed its new logo
“Everyone’s going minimal these days. First, it was Volkswagen at the 2019 Frankfurt International Motor Show, unveiling a cleaner, simpler direction for its iconic V and W logo. Now, BMW’s basically gone and done the same thing.
“The German car manufacturer has revealed its new logo, going with a flatter and more basic two-dimensional look that ‘conveys openness and clarity’ for its brand identity. The company says the new look will be rolled out up until May 31, 2021, but will not yet be used for vehicles or inside dealerships—it appears that this is, at the moment, for marketing purposes only.”
The Suzuki Jimny gets an P80,000 price bump
“Tough luck for prospective Jimny owners. Suzuki Philippines has just raised the prices of its immensely popular mini SUV, and the jump in cost is a considerable one.
“The base Jimny 1.5 GL MT variant has gone up to P1,055,000 from P975,000, while the Jimny 1.5 GL AT now carries a P1,115,000 price tag instead of P1,035,000. Lastly, the top-of-the-line Jimny 1.5 GLX AT costs P1,165,000 (add an extra P10,000 for the two-tone exterior) instead of just P1,085,000.
“No changes have been made to the vehicle. The 4x4 Suzuki still comes with the same 1.5-liter K15B four-cylinder gasoline engine capable of 100hp and 130Nm of torque, paired with either a four-speed automatic or a five-speed manual transmission. Only top-spec Jimny 1.5 GLX AT units feature niceties like an automatic A/C system, cruise control, and a four-speaker sound setup, while all units still get a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system and dual front airbags.”
