World No. 6 Stefanos Tsitsipas all set for Greece-Philippines Davis Cup tie

WORLD No. 6 Stefanos Tsitsipas is all set to see action for Greece in the Davis Cup World Group II playoff match against the Philippines at the Philippine Columbian Association.

Tsitsipas joined the team’s first practice at the PCA courts on Tuesday afternoon as Greece prepares for its tie against the Philippines.

The Greek tennis star accommodated a few selfie requests from a few Filipino fans at the PCA before inspecting the court along with his teammates and coaches.

The 21-year-old is the first high-profile tennis player that will play in Philippine shores since a group ATP and WTA stars competed at the Mall of Asia Arena in the now-defunct International Premier Tennis League (IPTL).

Tsitsipas will compete for Greece along with Michail Pervolarakis, Markos Kalovelonis, Petros Tsitsipas and non-playing captain Dimitris Chatzinikolaou.

The Philippines will have its hands full for the tie against Greece. Southeast Asian Games doubles gold medalist Jeson Patromobon and Francis Casey Alcantara, Ruben Gonzales, Alberto Lim, Eric Olivarez and non-playing captain Chris Cuarto compose the host squad.
