Creamline’s Risa Sato on facing Kurashiki: ‘Kailangan champion kami’

Filipina-Japanese volleyball player Risa Sato of Creamline Cool Smashers is determined to beat Kurashiki Ablaze of Japan in their Premier Volleyball League Invitational Finals game on Sunday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

According to Sato, she is personally excited to face the Japan-based squad, which defeated the Cool Smashers in the single-round robin semis on Friday night.

“Kailangan champion kami. ‘Yun lang ang mindset ko, champion,” Sato said. “Sobrang excited ako kasi, yes, syempre kalaban ‘yung Japanese team, syempre Japanese din ako.”

“Sobrang happy kasi itong time lang pwede namin makalaban ‘yung Japan? Kasi last year Taiwan di ba?” She added, referring to the Taiwan-based squad they defeated last year.

Sato was oftentimes the “magic bunot” of Creamline head coach Sherwin Meneses during their several championship matches in the PVL.
