Towns, Horford to lead Dominican Republic against Gilas Pilipinas in FIBA World Cup

The Dominican Republic will feature four NBA players when they face Gilas Pilipinas in the 2023 FIBA World Cup on August 25 at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.

Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Al Horford of the Boston Celtics are among those included in the Dominican Republic’s extended roster for the tournament.

Lester Quinones, who recently signed a two-way contract with the Golden State Warriors, and Chris Duarte, who was traded to the Sacramento Kings earlier this month, are also part of the lineup.

The extended lineup of the Dominican Republic also includes familiar names such as LJ Figueroa, who played for the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Summer League; Victor Liz; Luis Montero; Juan Guerrero; and Luis Santos.

The Dominican Republic is currently ranked No. 23 in the latest FIBA World Cup rankings, while Gilas Pilipinas holds the No. 40 spot.
They are joined in Group A by world No. 10 ranked Italy and No. 41 ranked Angola.
