Boxing champion Marlon Tapales recently visited his idol and Filipino sports icon Manny Pacquiao at the latter’s mansion in General Santos.
There, he received useful tips that he could use if he gets to fight Japanese superstar Naoya Inoue.
“He told me to use footwork and train very hard,” Tapales said in the Daily Tribune.
Tapales, the reigning WBA/IBF super bantamweight champion, is eyeing a title unification against Inoue, now the WBC/WBO king.
Negotiations are still underway, although the bout is targeted to take place in November or December at the Tokyo Dome.
