PBA import outperforms Gilas Pilipinas’ Jordan Clarkson in FIBA World Cup

Utah Jazz star Jordan Clarkson, who is currently representing Gilas Pilipinas in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, found himself outshone by a former NBA player who has transitioned into a PBA import.

According to data from Hoops Hype, despite averaging 24 points across three games, Clarkson did not secure a spot in the top 10 players based on efficiency.

TNT Tropang Giga’s import, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, achieved a notable top-10 position with an efficiency rating of 25.29. This accomplishment followed his impressive performance, averaging 31.5 points and 9.0 rebounds over the course of two games.

During the initial two matches of the World Cup group stage, Hollis-Jefferson delivered numerous impressive plays for the Jordanian national team, leading to his nickname “Lefty Kobe Bryant” due to his standout performance.

Leading the list is Luka Doncič of Slovenia (58.07 rating), Shai Gigeous-Alexander of Canada (37.08), Carlik Jones of South Sudan (32.88), Josh Hawkinson of Japan (29.33), and Andres Feliz of the Dominican Republic (29.06).

Completing the top 10 list are Montenegro’s Nikola Vucevic (28.85), Germany’s Dennis Schröder (28.69), the United States’ Austin Reaves (27.06), and Spain’s Willy Hernangomez (26.99).

Hoops Hype calculated players’ efficiency in the World Cup by averaging their statistics across various categories.
