Going up against the best basketball players in the world helped Kai Sotto realize that he has a long way to go in his pursuit of his NBA dream.
For his first two FIBA World Cup games, Sotto went up against Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Bruno Fernando of the Atlanta Hawks.
In addition, Sotto is playing alongside Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson. The 7’3 center is relishing the opportunity to witness the skills of these players.
“You can see naman from Karl-Anthony Towns and Jordan Clarkson; nakikita niyo naman kung gaano kagaling na NBA players,” Sotto said in a report from Spin.ph. “Hindi lang sila NBA players pero they are really, really good players sa liga nila.”
“Talagang rerespetuhin mo ‘yung galing nila, IQ nila, paano dalhin ‘yung team nila. I think it’s a blessing for me to play with Jordan and play against those guys,” he added.
Sotto said that facing NBA-caliber talent in the World Cup made him realize that he has a lot to work on with his game.
“Marami pa rin pagkukulang. Marami pa ring puwedeng iimprove. Wala namang perfect game kahit manalo ka,” the 21-year-old big man said. (MJD)
