All UST rookie aspirants chosen in the 2023 PBA Rookie Draft

All eight former University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers players who submitted their draft applications were drafted during the PBA Season 48 Rookie Draft on Sunday night at Market! Market! in Taguig City.

Bryan Santos was the highest pick among all the former Thomasians, as the Converge FiberXers selected him in the second round of the annual draft proceedings that saw 79 out of 124 total aspirants being chosen.

With the FiberXers, Santos will reunite with former UST coach Aldin Ayo, who initially recruited him from the Technological Institute of the Philippines during his time as the Growling Tigers’ coach.

Rain or Shine Elasto Painters picked three-point shooter Sherwin Concepcion as their third overall selection in the third round of the proceedings.

Meanwhile, NorthPort Batang Pier drafted Brent Paraiso in the third round, Ian Herrera (an assistant coach of Pido Jarencio at UST) in the sixth round, and Regie Boy Basibas in the eighth and final round.
The Meralco Bolts chose Zachary Huang in the fourth round, while the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters selected Jose Gomez de Liano in the fifth round. Enrique Caunan Jr. joined the Terrafirma Dyip in the seventh round.

Tsutomu Tateishi, who played during former UST coach Boy Sablan’s time, was one of the four players removed from the official list of draft applicants a day before the rookie draft.
