Veteran center Dwight Howard is set to meet with the Golden State Warriors next week, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.
“Eight-time NBA All-Star Dwight Howard will meet with the Golden State Warriors next week, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. The team has been exploring signing a reserve veteran big man, and now the 2020 Lakers championship center will visit with Warriors officials soon,” Charania posted on X.
As of now, the Warriors team lacks size, with Kevon Looney as their starting center. They also have Dario Saric, who has been injury-prone over the last three seasons, appearing in just 107 games over that stretch.
Howard last played in the NBA for the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2021–2022 season, where he averaged 6.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. After he was left unsigned before the start of the 2022–2023 season, he flew to Taiwan and played with the Taoyuan Leopards.
In addition, Charania reported that the Warriors have signed free agent center Usman Garuba to a two-way contract. (MJD)
