Biyaheng NBA? Kai Sotto excluded from Hiroshima’s lineup in Japan B.League

Where will Kai Sotto go next?

This came after the 7-foot-3 center was omitted from the Hiroshima Dragonflies’ roster for the forthcoming 2023–2024 Japan B.League season.

The Dragonflies’ website displayed only 11 names, notably excluding the Gilas Pilipinas big man, despite him having signed a contract extension with the team several months ago.

It was also highlighted in a report by the Tiebreaker Times that the Dragonflies are actively seeking a new Asian import to replace Sotto’s absence.

The Dragonflies had previously announced their intention to void Sotto’s contract only if he secures a signing with the NBA or NBA G-League.

Interestingly, last month, Kai’s father, former PBA player Ervin Sotto, posted “Purple and Gold” on his social media pages, sparking intrigue among basketball enthusiasts that his son might be on his way to the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA or the South Bay Lakers in the NBA G-League.

Kai had previously undertaken a stint with the Orlando Magic in the NBA Summer League before representing Gilas Pilipinas in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
