The University of Perpetual Help System Dalta Altas is preparing for a strong performance in the upcoming NCAA Season 99 men’s basketball tournament, set to start this Sunday.
Head coach Myk Saguiguit is confident that his team, comprising a blend of experienced and young players, can compete effectively against the league’s powerhouse teams.
“We have seasoned players. They have all played in the NCAA already. It’s a very good season for Team Altas to get a win and win the first game,” Saguiguit said during the league’s press conference on Thursday.
“We are now in our final stage of preparation for defensive and offensive moves and conditioning,” added the second-year Altas coach.
Saguiguit also mentioned that former Altas player Earl Scottie Thompson, now a star with the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings, contributed to the team’s improved offseason preparation.
“Malaki din ang help ni Scottie, kasi siya ‘yung nakakahanap and nagbibigay ng sponsors sa team,” said Saguiguit.
The Altas finished in seventh place in the NCAA Season 98 men’s basketball tournament last year with a record of seven wins and 11 losses.
