Ricci Rivero excited to reunite with coach Jamike Jarin at Phoenix

Ricci Rivero’s slide to the second round of the PBA Season 48 Rookie Draft on Sunday night had one silver lining: his reunion with Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters head coach Jamike Jarin.

The 25-year-old Rivero expressed his happiness about reuniting with Jarin, whom he had as his head coach at Batang Gilas during the 2013 SEABA U16 Championship.

“I’m just really excited and happy to be reunited with coach Jamike,” Rivero expressed during his interview with One Sports’ coverage minutes after Phoenix drafted him.

“May idea ako kung ano ‘yung gusto ni Coach Jamike kasi nagsama na kami before,” he added. “Like what I said, ready naman ako kahit anong team ang mag pick sa akin.”

Rivero also expressed his excitement about facing his former teammates from the De La Salle University Green Archers and the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons.

“‘Yun talaga ang nilolook forward ko, na makatapat ‘yung mga dati kong college teammates like sila Kib (Montalbo), Aljun (Melecio), and many more,” Rivero said.
