EAC coach: It’s not about breaking records, but reaching NCAA Final Four

The Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) Generals’ first-year coach, Jerson Cabiltes, aims for more than just defeating strong opponents in the NCAA Season 99 men’s basketball tournament.

According to him, he has set his sights on guiding the school to its inaugural Final Four appearance in the country’s oldest collegiate league.

“I’m not here to break any records, any winning streak, or anything. Isa lang ang streak na tinitignan ko—making it to the Final Four,” Cabiltes said. “I’m hoping that they will work hard in order to get there.”

As of now, the Generals hold a 3-2 win-loss record. They secured victories against the University of Perpetual Help Altas, Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights, and Lyceum of the Philippines Pirates, while they suffered losses to the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers and Mapua University Cardinals.

“Every game, our character is being tested. ‘Yung last two games namin, we didn’t finish well, especially our last game against Mapua,” said Cabiltes.

“Right after that, sinabi ko lang sa players ko na during those crucial moments, dapat buo ‘yung loob natin,” Cabiltes added, who also mentors the Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards.

Next Sunday at 10:00 a.m., the Generals will go up against the San Sebastian College-Recoletos Golden Stags.
