No fine for Yeng Guiao despite verbal outburst at referee

The PBA Commissioner’s Office has decided not to impose a fine on Rain or Shine Elasto Painters head coach Yeng Guiao for his actions against a referee during a tune-up game last week.

“No fine for coach Yeng Guiao,” deputy commissioner Eric Castro said in a Spin.ph report. “Hindi na siya pinatawag pa.”

Guiao got ejected in a tune-up game between the Elasto Painters and the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters after cursing referee Jerry Narandan, resulting in back-to-back technical fouls.

Castro added that Guiao’s case is different from what Blackwater head coach Jeffrey Cariaso did in a tune-up game.

The PBA slapped an undisclosed amount of fine on Cariaso after stopping a fast break play while trying to complain at the officials.

“Kay coach Jeff was flagrant misconduct, kaya siya pinatawag,” Castro said. (MJD)
