De La Salle University Green Archers head coach Michael “Topex” Robinson refuses to ride the hype of their upcoming rivalry game against the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles in the UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball tournament this Wednesday.
According to Robinson, facing the reigning UAAP men’s basketball champions, the Blue Eagles, is one of those games where the Green Archers can polish their skills to get even better.
“It’ll always be the same when we face Ateneo. It’s all about us, we, and ours,” Robinson said. “Obviously, we know who we’re going to be up against, but we’ll just focus on what we have.”
“Andami nga dapat naming i-improve right now, but whoever it is that we face is just an opportunity for us to get better. Kumbaga, ‘yun ‘yung isang bagay that we always want to focus on,” he added.
Personally, the former Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters head coach said he is looking forward to battling Blue Eagles mentor Thomas “Tab” Baldwin, as it will be a good opportunity for him to test his coaching genius.
“Coach Tab is a worthy rival. We will always compete against each other (here in the UAAP), and it’s just an opportunity for me to get better learning from Coach Tab and Ateneo,” Robinson said.
Robinson had a winning coaching debut with the Green Archers on Sunday night as they defeated the Far Eastern University Tamaraws, 87-76.
