Ferdinand “Thirdy” Ravena III and the San-en NeoPhoenix took care of business with a 90-81 victory over the Chiba Jets in Division 1 of the Japan B.League on Saturday night at the Funabashi Arena.
The former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles guard finished with nine points to go with six rebounds, six assists, two steals, and a block as the NeoPhoenix rises to a 21-4 record.
Yante Maten tallied a double-double of 21 points and 14 rebounds to lead the NeoPhoenix; Sota Oura added 16 markers; and Kosuke Kanamaru and Coty Clarke had 15 and 13, respectively.
Yuki Togashi finished with 28 points, including five three-pointers; Xavier Cooks had a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds; and John Mooney had 12 points and 16 assists as the Jets dropped to 13-12.
Matthew Wright and the Kyoto Hannaryz, as well as Bobby Ray Parks Jr. and the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins, ended the year with separate defeats on Saturday evening.
Wright and the Hannaryz (8-18) faltered to the Ibaraki Robots (2-24), 109-101, at the Adastria Mito Arena. The Filipino-Canadian guard was held to nine points and three rebounds in the loss.
Parks and the Diamond Dolphins (16-10), on the other hand, were dealt a 77-55 beating by the Kawasaki Brave Thunders (17-9). The Filipino-American guard tallied five points and three rebounds in the defeat.
