UAAP anchor Noah Webb faced online criticism for asking a University of the East Junior Warriors player if he was prepared for English questions during a post-game interview.
According to a post by the UE Red Tribe, the former University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons player remarked, “Ready ka na ba sa English ko? Joke lang,” to Junior Warriors player John Edry Alejandro.
Alejandro was named Player of the Game in the Junior Warriors’ 84-78 triumph over the De La Salle Zobel Junior Archers in the UAAP Season 86 high school boys basketball tournament on Sunday.
Webb’s comments received criticism from netizens, particularly among UE supporters.
“Ang hangin ng Noah Webb na ito.”
“Noah Gabriel A. Webb hope you feel great after asking that question to our jr player.”
“That’s just bad, bad way of putting and setting up things.”
“The audacity, baka he thinks that made him a better person.”
“Di lahat ng marunong mag ingles e matalino. Wag maging arogante.”
“Yan ang hirap kapag hindi alam ang code of ethics ng trabaho nya.”
“While we value your english communication skills, being mindful of how you communicate is important. Respectful interactions will make you a better interviewer and person overall.”
“Darling don’t pull the trigger. Laking recto kaming lahat dito.”
“Haha sana kinounter nlng ni player natin si Noah ng “ready ka na ba sa Tagalog ko?”
Webb, the grandson of former PBA cager and senator Freddie Webb, has not yet issued a statement regarding his controversial remark.
