Alyssa Valdez is thrilled about reuniting with former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles teammates Denden Lazaro-Revilla and Bea De Leon at the Creamline Cool Smashers camp.
Valdez mentioned that it hasn’t fully sunk in for her that they are now teammates, considering they faced each other multiple times in the Premier Volleyball League as opponents over the past few years.
“I am very excited. Parang, it’s so nice to share learnings with them from the past few years, na hindi kami magkakasama,” Valdez said during the PVL Media Day on Monday night.
“Parang, I never felt na hindi ko sila nakasama for the longest time, kasi even if we are on opposing sides or on one team, we bring out the best in each other,” she added.
Valdez shared that both Lazaro-Revilla and De Leon are still adapting to head coach Sherwin Meneses’ system, but she is optimistic that the two will become familiar with it in time for the 2024 PVL 1st All-Filipino Conference.
“Well, I would say that they are very talented players and experienced too; it’s not naman right away (na nakukuha nila ‘yung system ng Creamline), but it is running smoothly,” Valdez said.
“They are very patient; they are always observing our coaches, and sobrang galing nilang makisama on and off the court, so hopefully before the start of the conference, maka adapt na sila and mag-sink na din ‘yung chemistry namin as a team,” she added.
Lazaro-Revilla and De Leon joined the Cool Smashers from the Choco Mucho Flying Titans after their contracts expired on December 31, 2023.
