Ginebra’s Jamie Malonzo smacked in scuffle by shorter opponent

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings and Gilas Pilipinas forward Jamie Malonzo was struck by a smaller individual during an incident inside a fast-food restaurant.

According to a viral video from Sunday night, Malonzo, purportedly under the influence of alcohol, was observed pushing another male person outside the restroom.

However, the unidentified individual retaliated by delivering at least six punches to Malonzo.

Malonzo attempted to flee towards the restaurant’s door, but the smaller individual pursued him and delivered four more blows, with the final punch causing Malonzo to fall to the ground.

It remains undisclosed when the incident occurred, but Malonzo was conspicuously absent during the Gilas Pilipinas’ dominant 106-53 victory over Chinese Taipei in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers held at the Philsports Arena on Sunday night.

Gilas Pilipinas head coach Tim Cone stated after the match that Malonzo was absent and not even in the game venue due to acute gastroenteritis.
