The University of Santo Tomas Tiger Cubs have strengthened their frontline with the addition of Senegalese center Racine Kane, formerly associated with the St. Clare of Caloocan Saints.
UST team manager Jarvis Co confirmed the transfer of the 6-foot-7 Kane, who will be eligible for one season with the Tiger Cubs before potentially joining the UST Growling Tigers in the future.
Kane had previously played for the Tiger Cubs in the Ballout Sports Inter-Secondary Champions Challenge last year, but after the tournament, he chose to return to the Saints.
“We are happy to finally have Racine here at the UST Tiger Cubs for good this time,” Co told Fastbreak on Friday night. “We really wanted to get him since last year, but he decided to return to St. Clare.”
“As seen during the Ballout tournament, Racine is really a good fit for the system of coach Manu (Inigo), so we are looking forward to a better showing for the Tiger Cubs next season,” he added.
According to Co, the Tiger Cubs will have Kane for the UAAP Season 87 high school boys’ basketball tournament before featuring their other foreign student athlete, Ola Ajani of Nigeria, starting in Season 88.
