DLSU captain Julia Coronel confident in UAAP title defense readiness

De La Salle University Lady Spikers team captain Julia Coronel is confident that they are now prepared to face the challenge of defending their crown in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament.

According to Coronel, the Lady Spikers had extensive preparation with head coach Ramil de Jesus, including a training camp in Thailand earlier this year, to bolster their chances of securing title No. 13.

“I would say now that we are ready for this upcoming season,” said Coronel. “Kasi grabe din po ang naging preparation namin throughout the preseason, and gusto talaga naming manalo ulit kami at hawak po ang championship this season.”

Coronel, who will now assume the main setter role for the Lady Spikers following the graduation of Marionne Alba, expressed gratitude for the trust given to her by the coaching staff and her teammates.

“So far looking great. Na-embrace ko rin ‘yung role ko as a team captain and starting setter of the team,” said Coronel. “Nagpapasalamat din ako sa coaches and sa teammates sa tiwala nila sa akin.”

The Lady Spikers will commence their title defense against the Adamson University Lady Falcons at four in the afternoon today at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
