Andrei Dungo has officially committed to playing for the De La Salle University Green Archers, despite initial denials from his father about the plan to transfer schools.
The information obtained by Fastbreak from a source reveals that the University of Santo Tomas Tiger Cubs’ management was surprised when Andrei Dungo visited the Taft-based campus on Tuesday night to formalize his deal with DLSU team booster, Atty. Manases Carpio.
“Ginulat ang lahat.” was the initial reaction of the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The source mentioned that on early Tuesday, Andrei’s father, Dave, assured the school that they would first meet with UST Tigers head coach Alfredo “Pido” Jarencio as a sign of respect before finalizing his son’s college decision.
“Kasi nung nilabas ni Snow Badua ‘yung news na papunta na nga sa La Salle si Andrei, galit-galitan pa ‘yung tatay niya ‘fake news’ daw at ‘very unfair’ daw ‘yung balita,” the source said.
“Then in-assure din nila ang UST na makikipagkita muna kay coach Pido just to hear what the UST can offer, pero ‘yun pala set na ‘yung isipan nila na mag-La Salle,” he added.
Regardless, the source mentioned that Jarencio and the Tigers coaching staff still have many players at their disposal who are considered better than Dungo.
