Creamline Cool Smashers’ standout, Alyssa Valdez, emphasized the significance of having seasoned players in their quest to defend the title during the Premier Volleyball League 1st All-Filipino Conference.
Valdez, 30, believes that having seasoned volleyball players on the Cool Smashers’ roster provides them with a valuable advantage, especially considering the anticipated duration of the season-opening PVL conference.
“I think it is one of the advantages, siguro. As you said, napakahaba ng conference,” Valdez said in a post-game interview. “We have ample time to prepare for each game, so it is very crucial to have veteran players.”
“Palaging biruan sa team na isa kami sa mga team na matatagal na din sa PVL, and isa din kami sa mga team na mas madami talagang veterans, so we take that as an advantage,” she added. “Hopefully, maganda ang reward and result nito sa amin.”
Acknowledging the team’s current status, Valdez admitted that the Cool Smashers are still a distance away from their championship form after three games. She highlighted the ongoing corrections and adjustments needed as emerging factors in their performance.
“Very slow and steady start din for us, but, I guess, we will take it kasi we learn from every game kasi, and that is the most important thing. Every game talagang madaming nakikita na kailangan pang i-correct sa amin,” Valdez said.
“We have to accept it and take it na ganito ‘yung nilalaro namin, and hopefully mas tumaas or mas mag-improve pa kami,” she added. “Sana mas gumanda pa ang performances namin.”
