Kiefer Ravena, Shiga exact revenge on Fukuoka

Kiefer Ravena and the Shiga Lakes scored a bounce-back win against the Rizing Zephyr Fukuoka with a score of 77-66 in Japan B.League Division 2 on Tuesday night at the Kitakyushu Municipal Gymnasium.

After causing their defeat with an ill-advised unsportsmanlike foul on Monday night, Ravena made up for it with a 14-point, three-rebound, and three-assist performance in 31 minutes.

Brock Motum led the way with 22 points, including two three-point conversions, to go with five rebounds, while Hayato Wakugawa also delivered 14 points as the Lakes improved to a 34-13 record.

According to Lakes head coach Danny Gomez, it was a nice bounce-back victory for his squad, as they dominated Fukuoka from start to finish to maintain the upper hand in the standings.

“The most important thing was that we were able to control the game for 40 minutes in terms of score. It’s completely different from (last Monday). We were able to continue to make shots that had a very low probability,” Gomez said.

“I think the attitude of the bench (on Tuesday night) was really good. I think the positive attitude from the bench brought us the victory,” he added. “We were able to get a solid win, so we will move on to the next match.”

Gavin Ware top-scored with 15 points, Bryce Washington added 14 markers, and Filipino-American center Gregory Slaughter continued to ride the bench as they dropped to 32-15.
