Chris McCullough cries foul over game-fixing allegations

Strong Group Athletics-Pilipinas import Chris McCullough cried foul over allegations that he deliberately underperformed during their title-clinching 83-79 win against the Chinese Taipei-A at the close of the 43rd William Jones Cup on late Sunday in Taiwan.

According to McCullough, it is unfair to be accused of game-fixing just because he had a subpar performance during the championship game of the week-long tournament.

“Ima respond to the slander one time and one time only. I always rep the flag where ever I played so for some of you fans who’s saying all of this nonsense is ridiculous,” McCullough wrote on his X account.

“Bcus I didn’t have the best game in a championship game now I fix games? Come on now. It happens and it is what it is,” he added.

McCullough, who was named the tournament MVP, averaged 22.43 points during the SGA-Pilipinas’ first seven games before being limited to just 12 markers against Chinese Taipei-A.

Suspicions of game-fixing against McCullough surfaced after it was reported a few days ago that Chinese Taipei were expressing interest in naturalizing him following his consistent performance for the SGA-Pilipinas.

McCullough, who previously played as an import for the San Miguel Beermen in the PBA, was previously vocal in his desire to be naturalized in the Philippines, but the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas did not take any action.

The American import concluded his tweet by crediting fellow reinforcement Tajuan Agee for stepping up in the most important game of the tournament.

“It’s always the next man up & T stepped up big tonight! ‘That’s next man up mentally; he picked up my slack and got the job done!” McCullough said.
