Eala, Cascino close in on W100 doubles crown

Alex Eala and her doubles partner Estelle Cascino moved closer to the doubles pro crown at the W100 Vitoria-Gasteiz after securing a win in the semifinals.

The two struck down Mexico’s Maria Portillo Ramirez and Bolivian Noelia Zeballos, 6-2, 6-3, in Spain to march to the finals.

Eala and Cascino fought back from a slow 1-2 start before finding their groove to overrun their competitors.

With the victory, they set a title clash against Diāna Marcinkēviča of Latvia and Lia Karatancheva.

The game takes place late Saturday evening.

If they win, it will be Eala’s third doubles pro title.

The last time she nabbed a doubles crown was also with Cascino in the W75 Croissy-Beaubourg in France last March.

Meanwhile, Eala will also tackle Ramirez in the quarterfinals of the women’s singles on Saturday.
