University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses libero Bernadett “Detdet” Pepito is eager to get back at her close friend, National University Lady Bulldogs star Mhicaela Belen, in the next UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.
According to Pepito, the Golden Tigresses are determined to bounce back against the Lady Bulldogs after the latter defeated the former in the UAAP Season 86 finals earlier this year.
“Excited lang kami. Ta-try lang namin nang ta-try, pagtratrabahuan namin para makabawi kami,” Pepito said in an interview posted on the V-League website. “Hindi kami susuko hangga’t hindi kami nananalo sa kanila.”
The Golden Tigresses are currently playing in the V-League Women’s Collegiate Challenge as part of their preparation for UAAP Season 87, scheduled early next year.
“Sa training, triplehan pa namin ‘yung effort namin,” Pepito said. “Dapat ‘yung experience rin dapat nadala na namin and nakuha na last season. Sana magamit namin ‘yung experience ng maayos this time.”
Pepito further said that the Golden Tigresses will have a mixture of returning players and rookies in the upcoming collegiate season after securing several commitments from former high school standouts.
“Maraming talented ngayon, maraming promising ngayon na rookie, so sana mas ma-adapt nila ‘yung sistema namin, and siyempre, hindi naman namin sila papabayaan,” she said.
