ZUS Coffee to approach each game with winning mindset

After their winless debut conference, the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles plan to adopt a different approach in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference, beginning on July 16.
According to Thunderbelles head coach Jerry Yee, the team will approach each game with a winning mindset as they aim to secure the franchise’s maiden victory in the pro league.

“We will fight, of course. Winning is a process, and we hope it doesn’t take us too long to improve to their level. Experience, age, and power all play a role, but we are committed to the journey,” Yee said.

Yee added that he is optimistic that his rookies, Thea Gagate, Shar Ancheta, Nikka Yandoc, and Jenina Zeta, will provide a positive impact for the Frank Lao-owned Thunderbelles.

“We hope to maximize our picks and make the most of the talents we’ve acquired,” said Yee. “We are very happy with our selections, and we have filled the positions we needed with the available players who meet our requirements.”

“Height is crucial, especially when competing against imports in the Reinforced and All-Filipino Conferences,” said Yee. “Thea’s height is a significant advantage. If we can get a good pass, her height makes it difficult for opponents to stop us. Her blocking is also a considerable asset. Any team in the PVL would be fortunate to have her.”

Also part of the Thunderbelles roster are Gayle Pascual, Cloanne Mondoñedo, Jade Gentapa, Michelle Gamit, Dolly Verzosa, MJ Onofre, and Japanese reinforcement Asaka Tamaru.

The Thunderbelles, then known as the Strong Group Athletics, failed to win any of their 11 matches in the 2024 PVL 1st All-Filipino Conference.
