Despite 8th MVP title, Fajardo still sees Fernandez, Patrimonio as MVP standards

San Miguel superstar June Mar Fajardo remained humble despite securing a record eighth PBA Most Valuable Player award on Sunday.

Fajardo stated that despite his achievements, it is still too early to consider himself the “greatest of all time” (GOAT).

The Cebu native also acknowledged PBA legends Mon Fernandez and Alvin Patrimonio as the benchmarks for being MVPs.

Sila ‘yung barometer talaga sa MVP,” said Fajardo, who was mentored by “El Presidente” himself.

Fajardo said he is appreciative of being mentioned in the company of basketball greats. But he said he still has a long journey to take before duplicating the feats of his basketball idols.

Nineteen championships ata. Ako, naka-ilan pa lang ako? Ten pa lang ata ako,” he said. “So, sobrang layo ko pa sa kanya… Sa tingin ko, malayo pa ako roon,” he said.
