KYK, retired Japanese volleyball stars congratulate Jaja on her new citizenship

As Jaja Santiago-Minowa embarks on a new journey with her freshly acquired Japanese citizenship, well-known Asian volleyball personalities have sent her messages of happiness and support.

First on the list is the most decorated Korean volleyball player, Kim Yeon Koung, who also previously played for Jaja’s current club team in Japan, JT Marvelous.

“Congrats,” she wrote.

Two retired Japanese national women’s volleyball team members also bestowed their blessings on Jaja.

Olympic 2012 bronze medalist and former Hinotori Nippon team captain, Erika Araki, said, “Jaja! Congratulations! I’m rooting for you all the way!” to which Jaja returned with a compliment.

“Thank you, Erika! I will do my best! You are one of my inspirations to become a better middle blocker,” she replied in Japanese.

A three-time Olympian who was also a part of Japan’s bronze medal win at the Rio Olympics in 2012, former star setter Takeshita Yoshie, also greeted Jaja.

“I’m rooting for you. Good luck,” she said.

“We are so honored to receive your message! Thank you so much! I will do my best!” Jaja replied.

The upcoming Japan Volleyball League will officially start in October.

Jaja, now known as Sachi Minowa, will play for JT Marvelous and will carry her new jersey number, 22.
