MPBL: Vintage Mark Yee carries Abra over Quezon City

Mark Yee displayed his vintage game as the Abra Weavers pulled off a 78-70 victory over the Quezon City TODA Aksyon in the 2024 MPBL season on Tuesday night at the Paco Arena in Manila.

The 42-year-old forward had a near double-double performance of 18 points and nine rebounds while also connecting three outside shots as the Weavers kept their playoff hopes alive with a 13-7 win-loss slate.

“Siguro sa kumpiyansa lang na ibinibigay sa akin ng coaches na kapag open ay itira lang ‘yung three-points kasi pinaghihirapan din naman namin ‘yun sa ensayo,” Yee said during his Player of the Game interview.

“Sa Abra naman, hindi pa namin iniisip ‘yung playoffs; talagang one game at a time lang muna kami; talagang ang pinaghahandaan lang muna namin is ‘yung mga makakalaban namin,” he added.

Andres Desiderio added 14 markers, Michael Cañete chipped in 12 points and eight rebounds, and Shej Roi Sumang came off the bench to deliver 10 markers for the Weavers.

John Paul Cauilan top-scored for Quezon City with 13 points, while Hubert Cani and Michael Are contributed 11 markers apiece. They dropped to a 9-13 win-loss record.

Meanwhile, the Binan Tatak Gel Beast Motorcycle Tire GameX (13-8) scored a 73-61 victory over the Caloocan Batang Kankaloo (11-8). Kenny Rogers Rocacurva tallied 18 points to earn another Player of the Game honor.
