Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings veteran Earl Scottie Thompson remains optimistic despite trailing the TNT Tropang Giga by two games in the ongoing PBA Governors’ Cup finals.
The former PBA MVP believes the Gin Kings can rally back in the best-of-seven series, especially when they embody their trademark “Never Say Die” mentality.
“For us right now, we have to think positively. We know we’re down 0-2, but the series is not yet over,” Thompson said in an interview with DWAR Abante Radyo’s Sports Now program. “Hopefully we can show our ‘Never Say Die’ spirit sa series na ito.”
The Gin Kings struggled with their outside shooting in the first two games, resulting in a lopsided 104-88 Game 1 victory and a 96-84 come-from-behind Game 2 win for the Tropang Giga.
Thompson acknowledged that the Tropang Giga outperformed them both offensively and defensively in the opening games of the series.
“They’re a veteran team. They did not panic along the way. Credit goes to them. Para sa kanila ‘yung panalo,” said Thompson.
Game 3 of the Gin Kings-Tropang Giga title series is set for tonight at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
