Coach Tim Cone refused to make excuses for Barangay Ginebra’s PBA Governors’ Cup title loss to Talk ‘N Text.
They lost to the better team, simple as that, he said.
“I felt we just ran out of steam down the stretch,” said Cone after the Kings’ 95-85 loss to the Tropang GIGA in the series-clinching Game 6 over the weekend.
Ginebra fell short in the best-of-seven title series, 4-2, unable to reclaim the championship it lost to the same team last season.
Cone noted that TNT found a way to disrupt Ginebra’s signature Triangle Offense.
“You’ve got to give TNT the credit. They really clamped down on our Triangle. We weren’t executing as well as we could, and mostly it’s because of their defense,” he admitted.
“Sometimes you just got to tip off your cap to the other team.”
