Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings resident import Justin Brownlee is widely regarded as one of the greatest reinforcements to play in the PBA, but many netizens agree he is not the GOAT (Greatest of All Time).
This consensus emerged from the “Agree or Disagree” segment on Fastbreak’s Facebook page, where participants were asked if they concur with former PBA Rookie of the Year Willie Generalao’s statement that Brownlee cannot be considered the GOAT among past and present PBA imports.
Netizens noted that even Brownlee himself refrains from claiming the GOAT title, out of respect for the legendary imports who came before him and those currently playing in the league.

“Even JB never considered himself as the GOAT. Nothing to argue.”
“Humble JB himself doesn’t want to disrespect past imports, though many believe JB is one of the best imports who made it in the PBA.”
“One of the greatest but not the GOAT.”
“Si JB di mayabang. Mas worth sa kaniya ang team effort. Of course, marami ang mas magaling. His teammate would not be effective if buhakaw si JB. He developed a strong team because of his patience and humility.”
Generalao? ”
“This GOAT talk is very broad because, for me, it cannot be ‘All Time” since in every era there is a great or good player that comes along… And comparing them to each other might be unfair to them. Just my two cents worth. Thank you.”
“Tama naman, he’s not the greatest. He’s among the greats but not the best. Recency bias and that he’s from Ginebra might be just your reasons why he’s the greatest for you, but there have been more, like Bobby Parks, Sean Chambers, John Best, Michael Hackett, David Thirdkill, Kenny Redfield, Lamont Strothers, Tony Harris, and of course, Norman Black, and another one from Ginebra, Billie Ray Bates.”
However, some Fastbreak followers believe that the current Gilas Pilipinas naturalized import should be considered the GOAT, given his pivotal role in leading the Gin Kings to six PBA championships.
This is a free country… Everyone is entitled to their own opinion… Just saying.”
Sino? Hehehehe. So GOAT na yan, matic na.”
“In modern-day basketball, with the skill set of Brownlee, we can consider him if not the GOAT, but one of the greatest who ever played as an import because of his achievements. If JB played in Mr. Gerelao’s era…with his size and talents…Willie Gerelao will look like an elementary player playing against God with his skill set. ”
Generalao, in a recent interview with DWAR Abante Radyo’s Sports Now program, stated that several former PBA reinforcements surpass Brownlee in terms of impact and skill.
“Maybe Brownlee is (among the better PBA imports), pero (hindi siya ang GOAT PBA import),” added the 1980 PBA Rookie of the Year winner.
The 36-year-old Brownlee has guided the Gin Kings to six PBA championships since his debut in 2016 and has earned the PBA Best Import award three times.
His stellar performances for Ginebra also led to his naturalization with Gilas Pilipinas, where he played a key role in securing gold medals at the 2023 Southeast Asian Games and the 2023 Asian Games.
