TNT’s Chot Reyes: Rift with JP Erram not a topic in practice

TNT Tropang Giga head coach Chot Reyes confirmed that his Game 5 altercation with JP Erram was not discussed during training, as the team remained focused on Game 6 preparations.

“Kung nag-ayos kami? Wala. We had our regular training yesterday and we don’t have the need to address it. That’s the level of trust in our team,” Reyes said after TNT’s 87-83 win over Barangay Ginebra on Wednesday night.

The veteran coach stressed that disagreements are normal within a team.

“If we get on each other’s nerves or magsigawan kami, eh, magkakapatid nga at magkakapamilya nag-aaway, di ba? But that does not mean we have to break up as a family,” he added.

Reyes also instructed Erram to ignore the “iyakin” chants from Ginebra fans and remain locked in on the game.

“We just told Poy to focus on shutting out the noise because he is very important to the team. So, luckily, he did just that. Of all our players in this series, he was the one that has the highest plus-minus in efficiency,” Reyes said.

Erram responded with a clutch performance in Game 6, finishing with 14 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, along with six rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block in 27 minutes of action.
