Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao is calling on fans to pray for his longtime friend and former trainer, Jonathan Peñalosa Sr., who is currently battling stage 4 colon cancer.
“Please join me in praying for Jonathan Peñalosa Sr., isa po siya sa mga matagal ko nang trainers at kaibigan,” Pacquiao wrote in a heartfelt post on Facebook.
Peñalosa, a former WBC International flyweight champion, is now confined as he fights through the advanced stages of the illness.
“Ipagdasal din natin ang buong pamilya niya sa panahon na ito. Patuloy tayong naniniwala sa kagalingan at kalakasan na galing sa Diyos. 
” Pacquiao added.
Jonathan is the older brother of former world champion Gerry Peñalosa. After retiring from boxing, he transitioned into coaching and trained a number of fighters, including Eman Bacosa—Pacquiao’s son. He was also part of the training team during many of Pacquiao’s title campaigns.
