Angel Reese falls short of WNBA All-Star starting nod despite fan support

Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese finished fifth in frontcourt fan voting for the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game but missed out on a starting spot after falling short in media and player votes, per Bleacher Report’s Taylyn Hadley.

Reese, one of the league’s most popular newcomers, was edged out of a frontcourt slot by Phoenix Mercury’s Satou Sabally.

While Reese earned strong fan support, she ranked just 12th in both media and player voting, resulting in a weighted score of 7.75. The All-Star voting breakdown consisted of 50% fan votes and 25% each from players and media.

The 12 reserves for the All-Star Game will be announced on July 6, with the captains, Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier, set to draft their teams on July 8. The All-Star Game will be held on July 19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Much like Reese, Skylar Diggins also missed a starting spot despite strong player and media support. The Seattle Storm guard was 4th in media voting and 3rd in player voting but ranked 9th among fans, keeping her out of the top backcourt selections.

Both players will hope to be included when coaches announce the All-Star reserves this weekend.
