Talk ‘N Text head coach Chot Reyes and the Tropang Giga are one step away from PBA history after eliminating Rain or Shine, 97-89, in Game 6 of their Philippine Cup semifinals series on Sunday night.
The win sent TNT to the finals, where they will face either Barangay Ginebra or San Miguel Beer for a shot at completing a rare PBA Grand Slam—a sweep of all three conference titles in a single season.
The franchise has already captured the Commissioner’s Cup and the Governors’ Cup crowns. A triumph in the Philippine Cup would make TNT only the sixth team in league history to achieve the elusive feat.
The last team to win a Grand Slam was San Mig Coffee in the 2013–2014 season under legendary coach Tim Cone. Only four coaches in PBA history have accomplished the Grand Slam: Baby Dalupan, Tommy Manotoc, Norman Black, and Cone—who did it twice.
Reyes, who nearly pulled it off in the 2010–11 season with TNT, is not rushing to dream big just yet.
“Honestly, all I wanted coming into this ballgame was to prepare the players so that we are in the game… that’s really all I had in mind,” Reyes said in the post-game presser.
“Now that we’re here, I just continue that same discipline and focus on Game 1. We just need to get Game 1 now.”

TNT will open their finals campaign later this week, aiming to etch their name in PBA lore.
