UP Taekwondo Men’s Teams shine in 2025 National Championships; Ogoy named MVP

The UP Taekwondo Men’s Teams delivered a standout performance in the 2025 National Taekwondo Championships held July 26–27 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.

The squad clinched both the championship and a third-place finish in the prestigious tournament, drawing praise from supporters including Alpha Wolves Taekwondo, who congratulated the team on Facebook for their achievements.

“Congratulations to the UP Taekwondo Men’s Teams for being the Champions and clinching 3rd place… We are beyond proud of all of you!” read the post, with shoutouts to Coaches Ralph and Jay-ar Alombro, as well as UP’s coaching staff Nap Dagdagan Jr. and Rainier Sanchez.

Meanwhile, UP’s Alexander Gabriel Ogoy emerged as the competition’s overall Most Valuable Player. In a post by the UP Diliman Taekwondo Varsity Team, Ogoy was lauded for his flawless run, winning all matches in straight rounds.

“Perfect ka OG!” the team posted. “His performance is an exemplar of resolve and brilliance.”

Ogoy, a proud native of Baguio, anchored UP’s dominant campaign and further solidified his status as one of the country’s top collegiate taekwondo athletes.
