COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Girl Scout season is down the road and the Girl Scouts of Columbus are recruiting.
Melissa Burkett, membership manager with the Girl Scouts of Columbus, stopped by WRBL News 3 and discussed the largest recruiting event of the year, called "Girl Scout Adventure Day."
"We have a great opportunity for girls to get out, come out this Saturday, join, find out about Girl Scouts, what all we do," Burkett said. "We're going to have a bounce house, a DJ, troops doing STEM activities because we do a lot of STEM stuff and outdoor stuff as well."
Burkett discussed some of the benefits of becoming a Girl Scout among the youth, as it provides plenty of teaching moments.
"It teaches the four pillars: life skills, outdoor, entrepreneurship, and STEM. We want to get them outside, get them in the woods," Burkett said. "Hiking, camping, learning how to cook.. just being out in nature."
Registrations for Girl Scouts of Columbus will be provided on the day of the event, which is on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lake Bottom Park.
Burkett also says that the annual membership registration cost is $50.
