The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) congratulated Filipina billiards star Chezka Centeno for winning the silver medal in the Women’s 10-ball competition at the 2024 World Games in Chengdu, China.
In a Facebook post, the PSC lauded the 26-year-old Zamboanga City native, who delivered a spirited performance in the finals against China’s Han Yu, falling in a nail-biting 6-7 finish.
The PSC post read:

Filipina billiard player Chezka Centeno finished her Chengdu World Games stint with a silver medal in the Women’s 10-ball. Centeno gave a high-spirited performance in the finals against China’s Han Yu, losing in a heart-stopping match with a final score of 6-7.
The 2023 World 10-Ball Champion showed an outstanding playstyle, forcing a very close game and making crucial shots in an intense championship match.
Centeno notched the second silver medal of the Philippines following Kaila Napoli’s second-place finish in the Women’s -52 kg Ne-Waza.

The PSC also congratulated Carlos Baylon Jr. for capturing the bronze medal in Men’s Wushu Sanda 56 kg after defeating Islam Karimov of Kazakhstan.
In its post, the PSC wrote:

Carlos Baylon, Jr. prevailed over Islam Karimov of Kazakhstan to claim the bronze medal in Men’s Wushu Sanda 56kg—the country’s second medal at the Chengdu 2025 The World Games.
He managed to lift Karimov out of the mat twice in the second round to ultimately decide the match in his favor.

Centeno’s silver and Baylon’s bronze added to the Philippines’ medal haul in Chengdu, highlighting the nation’s competitive presence on the World Games stage.
